With 20 years of cultured para-jazz experimentation behind him, William Basinski has become a reference point in the vast landscape of experimental ambient music. With ‘The Disintegration Loops’, he is one of the few artists in the world who can boast a 10/10 on Pitchfork. Beyond the review, The Disintegration Loops is unanimously considered a masterpiece of contemporary music that today sounds like a prophecy about Western culture, a photograph of a hegemony that time fades.
Almost after a decade of work, Basinski announces ” . . . on reflection”, a new album together with Janek Schaefer, which perfectly blends the two composers’ deep manipulations of time and space. The album is out on 29 April on Temporary Residence Ltd and is dedicated to the recently deceased master of ambient Harold Budd.
