Alberto Novello, aka Jestern, is a physicist, composer and media artist whose work investigates the links between sound and light through analog technologies. By modifying and reactivating vintage devices—oscilloscopes, laser systems, game consoles—he reveals their expressive potential and challenges digital norms.
His performances and installations have been featured at Centre Pompidou (Paris), Ars Electronica (Linz), Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), Venice Biennale, Bozar (Brussels), and Rewire Festival (Den Haag), among others.

BLACKLIGHT (2024)
Choreography for Ultraviolet Laser Light on Photosensitive Surface
*Performance / Installation*

In BLACKLIGHT, the invisible UV component of laser light paints evolving, intricate worlds on a custom-made photosensitive canvas. Precise, frenetic laser movements contrast with slow-forming visuals that resemble cities, alien landscapes, or microscopic organisms. The result is a contemplative, time-dilated experience where invisible light reveals what is hidden, and sound becomes the signal that draws the light, synchronizing visuals and audio in real time.

The piece is available both as a live performance and as an autonomous light/sound installation.
