Arka Kinari is an “immersive and submerged” multimedia performance by Filastine & Nova – an international artistic duo that mixes traditional Javanese melodies, hypnotic polyrhythms and contemporary electronics – presented directly from the deck of a traditional sailing boat, which through live music and video mapping speaks of an imaginary post-carbon economy world, resilience to ongoing climate change as well as the reunion with one of the last great “common goods”: the sea. The show lasts 75 minutes and uses the deck of the boat as a stage and the sails as projection screens.
Set sail from Rotterdam in late summer 2019, stranded in the Pacific Ocean during the early months of the pandemic, the eco-friendly travelling vessel and stage Arka Kinari landed in Indonesia in late 2020.
Arka Kinari will come back in Mediterranean water in 2024.
